The body of UK care regulation Baton Compliance continuously reads: primary legislation, statutory regulations and guidance, regulatory and sector bodies, and case law across all four nations. Where something could affect us, it assesses the likely risk and impact and sets out recommended next steps, keeping the relevant owners and stakeholders informed with time to prepare.

CQC is replacing the Single Assessment Framework with separate frameworks for each sector, with quality statements giving way to key lines of enquiry. The draft frameworks were piloted over summer 2026, with further sector engagement planned for the autumn; CQC has not yet confirmed when they take effect. The current framework applies until then. Our evidence model will be re-mapped to the adult social care framework once CQC confirms it.
Royal Assent 24 March 2025, commencing in phases, with further provisions in force from 1 July 2026. CIW and Social Care Wales alignment tracked for our Wales-based placements.
Statutory guidance published 18 March 2026, replacing the 2023 edition. It introduces the Family Help model and strengthens multi-agency accountability and information sharing. Our Safeguarding Children & Young People Policy is anchored to this guidance; our adults Safeguarding policy cross-references it.
National career structure for adult social care, launched January 2024 and extended with new role categories in April 2025 and July 2026. Mapped to our pathways and learning-and-development policy.
Royal Assent 18 December 2025, with measures commencing in phases through 2026 and 2027. Tracked against our AWR position and contracts.
Overseas recruitment into care worker and senior care worker roles closed to new applicants on 22 July 2025. Transitional rules for people already in the UK run to 22 July 2028. Monitored for compliance across recruitment and right-to-work checks.
