A partner that could grow with them

Agincare Enable is part of the Agincare Group, one of the UK's leading independent care providers. Through the strategic acquisition of numerous Ambient supported living sites, the organisation grew to operate around 64 supported living services across England, supporting adults with learning disabilities, autism, and complex mental health needs.

Rapid growth brought a staffing challenge: the existing agency partner lacked the capacity and geographic reach to keep pace. Operations Director Matthew Wilmott was looking for something different: a partner without the baggage of a conventional agency, one that could build sustainable staffing models in hard-to-reach regions and grow alongside the business.

"We needed a partner who could genuinely grow with us — not just fill shifts, but help us build sustainable staffing models in regions where traditional agencies had consistently let us down," said Matthew Wilmott, Operations Director at Agincare Enable. "We Are Care understood that from day one." The relationship had a foundation already: when Agincare acquired a number of residential care homes, We Are Care had provided stabilisation staffing across several services within days, sustaining 100% shift coverage throughout the transition.

People understood before rotas were written

The initial brief centred on sites in Bourne and Grantham, Lincolnshire, challenging regions for staffing. The individuals supported had complex needs: learning disabilities, autism, and clinical requirements including PEG feeding and Buccal Midazolam administration. Before a single shift was filled, We Are Care held detailed calls with each home manager to capture individual needs, communication styles, and clinical protocols.

Within two weeks, a dedicated team of over 40 specialist support workers had been recruited, trained to the required clinical standards, and fully verified. Every worker arrived compliant across DBS, right-to-work, and mandatory training, with continuity built in from the outset: the same workers returning to the same sites to build the familiarity that the people supported depend upon.

"From the very first conversations, We Are Care took the time to understand our people, not just our rotas," said Debbie, Home Manager at Bourne. "The team they built for us didn't just cover shifts; they became familiar faces that the people we support could trust. That level of partnership and commitment to continuity has made a real difference."

From two sites to twenty-four

The results impressed Enable's team enough that the relationship expanded rapidly. The partnership grew into Nottingham, Leicester, Southampton, and Burton on Trent, and We Are Care now supports 24 Agincare Enable sites. Each new geography opened the same way Bourne and Grantham had, starting with the individuals before any shift was scheduled.

Sustainable staffing held in regions where other providers had struggled, and cost-effectiveness was maintained through fair pay and capped markups, reducing revenue lost to empty beds while keeping experienced workers in post.
